Long before we swiped or tapped cards to get on the subway, we paid for fares by dropping tokens in turnstiles. These cufflinks are made from genuine tokens used for Boston's subway system long before it was even called "The T." When this design was introduced in 1951, the underground in Boston was part of the MTA—of "Charlie on the MTA" fame—or Metropolitan Transit Authority. These (and newer versions of the brass tokens) were used until 2007, when the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) transitioned to CharlieCards.

Each of these items is different. The images shown are sample photos and do not show the exact item you are purchasing. Because each is handmade using upcycled materials, you should understand that the product you receive will vary in appearance.
