If you’ve ever shown an interest in this product in our store, we apologize because you’ve probably already heard this story:
Repurposed had pegboard walls in its first location. When we needed extra space for display, we’d put two pegs in the wall and put something across it—say an old board game—and voila! we had a new shelf.
So many people wanted to buy one of these shelves, except they weren’t shelves. They were two pegs in a pegboard wall with a board game across them. That winter, we designed the first version of the Vintage Board Game Shelf that could be used without the need for pegboard walls.
This Vintage Board Game Shelf is made from a real Monopoly, Scrabble, Chutes and Ladders or other classic game board and will show signs of use. We spray the playing surface with multiple coats of a clear urethane to protect it and then triple the thickness of the base for extra strength. The shelf is supported by two steel L-brackets which are completely hidden when installed. The width and depth of these shelves vary because the boards themselves are different sizes, but they generally range from 15" wide and 7" deep to 20" wide and 10" deep. If you need measurements of a specific shelf, please contact us and we’ll assist you.
This comes with the game board shelf, two steel L-brackets, screws, hollow wall anchors, and installation instructions. You may need to use different hardware depending on the wall. While the extra layers, relatively short width, and steel brackets add a lot of strength, weight capacity still depends on the individual installation and distribution of the load. We do NOT suggest using these for bookshelves, but we have displayed items over ten pounds in the store without any problems. Still, these are made of cardboard and have the normal limitations of that material.
Please note that while we try to make the photos an accurate representation of the items we’re selling, game boards change regularly and often with only minor edits. In those cases, your board may look slightly different than the one in the photo. In situations where the game has many completely redesigned boards, we try to have separate listings for different versions. If the specific version of a game is important to you, please contact us before making your purchase.
If the game you want isn’t shown, send us a quick message and we’ll see if we can create it.
