In our pursuit to bring you interesting stuff made from other stuff, we sometimes come across something we didn't know existed, but we add it to our stock because it's visually interesting or particularly quirky or made from an item we don't already have in our collection. This product is all three!
Shire Post Mint makes coins, and while they're amazing, they're not repurposed. But these are. You may have seen worry stones before, but have you ever seen them made out of Bowlerite?
Have you ever heard of Bowlerite?
Bowlerite is the name given to the outer shell of bowling balls which is cut and shaped and polished to a stone-like appearance. It's even referenced on some gemological websites.
These Bowlerite Worry Stones were made in Arkansas from discarded bowling balls. They're a bit over an inch in diameter and have one concave side, "for maximum satisfaction when holding between forefinger and thumb." Betelgeuse is a swirl of black, red, and creamy teal, and is .3" to .5" thick. You can order standard, which has one concave side, or have both sides concave. The maker packages them in a zipper bag with a small booklet of bowling terms.
Worry stones have been used to relieve stress and anxiety since ancient times. Think of them as the first fidget toys. This one also happens to be a great conversation piece!
Each of these items is different. The images shown are sample photos and do not show the exact item you are purchasing. Because each is handmade using upcycled materials, you should understand that the product you receive will vary in appearance.
About Shire Post Mint
Tom Maringer, previously a swordsmith, began making coins in 2003 for George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Since then, Shire Post Mint has grown into a family business that is now run by Tom's son Woody and daughter Helen. They make over 150 unique coins from popular fantasy worlds and a myriad of original designs. None of which, unfortunately, are appropriate for a store called Repurposed.
Shire Post Mint is on our list of creators because of their Bowlerite Worry Stone, created by Woody, but their coins are amazing! We encourage you to visit www.shirepost.com.
